La Marchanta is the first of 5 designs that we affectionately call "Las Nenas", commissioned to our very talented friend Fernando Aponte, better known asFlushDelayto be the one of the images of our new storethe pachuquena.

She represents Mexican food and nature, with her head wrapped in flowers, chile earrings, and a garland of cactus and corn attached to the center by "La Cruz de Quetzalcoatl", or Macuilxochitl (Five-Flower), a philosophical symbol that represented the four directions of existence: Quetzal-Coatl (Heaven and Earth) and Tonal-Nahual (Feminine/Lunar-Masculine/Solar) whose combination gave rise to the 5th direction: the balancing center.
